About The Course

The LGBTQ+ course has been developed to give employees and employers working in the UK the tools and skills to create a fully inclusive workplace environment.

Current research estimates that more than 35% of LGBTQ+ staff have hidden or disguised the fact that they were LGBTQ+ at work because they were afraid of discrimination.

The Equality Act (2010) legally protects people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society. Sex, gender reassignment and sexual orientation are protected characteristics under the Act. This means that employers have a legal obligation to protect all their staff, avoid discrimination and provide a working environment that is free from prejudice.

Our LGBTQ+ course will help all businesses train their staff about the key elements of the law, show you how to avoid discrimination and provide information about how to act inclusively towards all staff.

Aims of the course

The aim of the course is to give an understanding of the LGBTQ+ community in the UK and to help inform all staff about the need for an inclusive environment in the workplace.  Learners will aquire knowledge of the effects and impacts of prejudice and discrimination and learn about The Equality Act and LGBTQ+ history, rights and law.

By the end of this course learners will:

  • Have an understanding of key LGBTQ+ terminology.
  • Be aware of LGBTQ+ history, rights and law.
  • Know what they should do to ensure an inclusive workplace.
