About The Course
Our Fire Safety Awareness in Schools and Colleges e-learning course was developed in conjunction with Nottingham Fire and Rescue Services to provide tailored training to those working in any buildings within the education sector.
Aims of the course
To equip your staff with the knowledge of the correct course of action to take in the event of a fire so that they are fully trained to help themselves and those they are responsible for.
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for all staff who work in schools and colleges, including teaching staff, maintenance, office and catering staff.
Legislation, training your staff, employees' duties.
2. UNDERSTANDING FIRE SAFETY
How to raise the alarm, if and when to tackle fires, the evacuation procedure, workplace scenarios - education specific.
3. WHAT ACTION TO TAKE
Raising the alarm, safety first - do's and don'ts, identifying a fire incident, action to take, things to consider.
4. DETECTION AND CONTAINMENT
Understanding alarms, information about fire doors.
Ensuring good practice, possible hazards, signage, evacuation planning, things to consider.
6. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND FIRE BLANKETS
Identifying fire fighting equipment, how to use different types of fire extinguisher, using fire blankets, choosing the correct equipment.
A short assessment, 20 questions with multiple choice answers, aimed at testing your knowledge and understanding of the course. Certificate available upon completion.
