About The Course
This course aims to give employees an understanding of the potential health, legal, social and financial impact of misuse of drugs and alcohol on themselves, the workplace environment and their ability to do their job. The course offers practical and informative ways to help identify and minimise risks and effects.
Aims of the course
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
*describe the law and employee's responsibilities regarding drugs and alcohol
*understand the different reasons why people use drugs
*describe the risks and effects of a large range of legal and illegal substances (including alcohol) on the individual, family and workplace
*explain the different levels of risk associated with alcohol
*know where to get information and support
Who is it for?
This course is appropriate for all employees at any level within a company across all industries. We also offer a more advanced course entitled Drugs and Alcohol Awareness for Managers which also gives in-depth strategies and practical tips for managing risk.
1. Introduction - facts about drugs (including alcohol), the law, policies and procedures, your responsibility.
2. Drugs - why people use drugs, types of drugs, effects and risks, signs of drug misuse, workplace impact.
3. Alcohol - understanding units of alcohol, risk levels, short and long term effects on the body, how alcohol can affect lives, effects of misuse on the workplace environment.
4. Assessment - A short assessment comprising of a series of questions to test your knowledge and understanding of the course.
